BP INTERVIEW: Q&A with Don Jones Chief Wireless Officer of the West Wireless Health Institute and Vice President of Health and Life Sciences at Qualcomm

As chief wireless officer of the West Wireless Health Institute in La Jolla, Calif., Don Jones is on the forefront of efforts to expand wireless technology into health care. Founded in March 2009, the Institute is a joint project of Qualcomm Inc., a wireless telecommunications company; Scripps Health, a five-hospital system; and the Gary and Mary West Foundation, whose founders provided $45 million in start-up funds. All three organizations are based in San Diego. The nonprofit Institute will design and conduct clinical trials on new wireless products and partner with other companies to do research and provide expertise on reimbursement and regulatory affairs matters.
